Sometimes It’s Nice

Sometimes it’s nice to stay home on a fall Sunday night and watch TV. You know, rest up for the week.

Sometimes it’s nice to sit in your pajamas and read on the couch.

Sometimes it’s nice to have peace and quiet.

But, sometimes, it’s nice to hear giggles, conversation, and love.

Sometimes it’s nice to share a birthday, or two… or three.  Feliz Cumpleanos, Lesli, Will and Craig!

Sometimes it’s nice to meet someone new.  Nice hair, Santiago!

Sometimes it’s nice to laugh. “I do not like green eggs and ham!”

Sometimes it’s nice to help someone out.

No matter how tired and worn out I am, I am revived when I leave fifth street.  My cup is filled with blessing– the blessing of family.  And, maybe that’s the way it was intended.  Jesus did not walk this earth so that we could sit alone on our couches in quietness. He wants to us love.

Sometimes it’s nice to share life with others.

“You revive my drooping head; my cup brims with blessing.” Psalm 23:5

Abuela’s kitchen floor was rotting through, so a few of the guys went over to begin work.

Josh braved the sub-trailer terrain.  He came up for air, and a picture.

We Went To The Zoo!!

This past Saturday, we took “Los ninos” to the Houston Zoo. They had a great time!

Our first stop was the seal pool.  We loved watching them glide through the water and eat fish off of the floating buckets.  We couldn’t get over how cute they were!

Next, we walked through the African Forest, which is a new portion of the zoo. It was very cool. Here, the ninos are playing in an African hut.

After only a few stops, we were hot, thirsty, and hungry! We found some shade, and a show! Andy got called to volunteer for a game with some of the zoo workers. He did a great job!

Doritos make for a great refueler.

Very interested in the show! Saturday was Enrichment Day at the zoo, so we got to learn all about how the zoo works to keep the animals safe and healthy.

The petting zoo was all the rage for these little ones! They talked about going the minute they walked into the zoo.  They really enjoyed brushing the goats!

Who doesn’t love goats?

Next, we rode the carousel. Here, Marcos and Luis are racing their animals. Thanks for the tickets, Heidi and Cooper!

Our final stop was the reptile house.  The komodo dragon, Smaug, was a big hit with the kids. We found out that Saturday was his birthday. Coincidentally, it was also Jessica’s! Feliz Cumpleanos, Jessica y Smaug!

We had a blast at the zoo!

The Day We Put In A Toilet

Christibol and Anna’s bathroom was not functional, so we rallied the troops and put them to work!

The brains of the operation, David.  He actually does this for a living, and was a blessing to have with this job.

Francisco, Rojelio’s son, laying tile.  He’s a pretty cool dude, and a big help!

Craig is proud of the toilet and new floor! Way to go, guys!

Christibol and Jessica are excited about their new bathroom!

Baby Jennifer is too, she’s just holding it in.

We had a great day on 5th street!
